I Never Loved You

“I never loved you.”

Tell me why.

“I never loved you.”

A last jab at my dying heart.

“I never loved you.”

Never gave a clue from the start.

Tell me why.

“I never loved you.”

Tell me why

You amputated my heart

Out on my sleeve for all to see.

You amputated my heart

Just to drag me down to my knees.

Tell me why.

“I never loved you.”

Tell me why.

You say too many times, too many times,

“I never loved you.”

You crucified me just to show me

You could so many times, so many times.

Tell me why.

“I never loved you.”

I never expected you could hurt me by yourself.

Yet you planned it oh so well.

I never suspected you wanted me my self,

But you took me ’til you felt my heart swell.

Then wrecked it all by yourself.

Tell me why.

“I never loved you.”

Tell me why.

I tried to hate you despite myself.

I tried to cut you from my still-beating heart.

I tried to excise you from my mind

With lots of drugs and wine.

Lots and lots of time.

“I never loved you.”

You keep telling me.

But why do you need me to believe this particular lie?

Tell me why.

You left me to die.

Tell me why.

I let you take the me that’s mine.

“I never loved you.”

Running off was just your style.

Tell me why.

I won’t need a crucified heart

Dripping veins of regret,

Dripping with your lies.

Tell me why.

“I never loved you.”

Tell me why.

I believed all your lies.

Tell me why.

Why do you need me to believe this particular lie?

Tell me why.

I let you take the me that’s mine.

“I never loved you.”

Tell me why.

You amputated my believing heart,

You anticipated my surrender.

Dripping veins of regret,

Dripping with your lies.

Tell me why.

I never loved you.
